I am retired from a 34-year career with the State of North Carolina Department of Health and
Human Services, Division of Social Services. My career began as a word processor doing
transcription for the Division of Medical Assistance, Hearing and Appeals Section as well as
supporting all other areas within DSS. By career end I was on/off boarding new employees with
equipment, email credentials, and secure credentials to access systems associated with their
jobs. My position served as email administrator, security officer, software support, web master
for DSS and was the only one left within DSS that did transcription for DMA, Hearings and
Appeals. I believe that I bring a unique blend of expertise and enthusiasm to KCSSU.
I joined KCSSU as one of the founding members because when I spoke to the founder, I
realized he was speaking to my passion, something that I had long been thinking about to the
point of writing out a plan of action. I believe in the mission of KCSSU and from childhood
experiences to professional milestones, to raising a family in this day and time as a single
parent I am dedicated to KCSSU and deeply rooted in this journey.
I enjoy reading, doing research and sharing information. I am family oriented and enjoy
supporting my children and grandchildren and anyone else they bring into our circle. I try to
keep aware of help within the community so that I can be a referral source for members of the
community who need assistance.
